Everyday Superhero

There are around 1 million sworn police officers in the United States. Though we use the term "Police Officer" in a general sense, the field is broad. In our blog, we have profiled individuals who have mastered a skill or honed a craft, becoming newsworthy in some way. This week, we are focusing on the exceptional people who live life every single day in service to their communities and families. This week, HAIX® celebrates the "everyday heroes." Meet Detective Christopher Love.

Nicholasville, Kentucky, is a small town of about 60,000 people, right in the heart of horse country. Nicholasville is home to country artist John Michael Montgomery and, recently, a PGA golf event. Its proximity to Lexington makes it a small town with a bigger city feel.

Detective Love has spent most of his law enforcement career in Nicholasville—a career that has spanned nearly three decades. Detective Love always wanted to be a law enforcement officer, a dream he began pursuing as a child. "When I was young, 8 years old as a matter of fact, [a cop] is what I wanted to be, and I never wavered," he told us. "[When I] played cops and robbers as a kid, I always played the cop."

During his career, he has been a firearms instructor and served on the Special Response Team (SRT). He worked with the Criminal Investigation Unit for the Nicholasville Police Department for 17 years before retiring in 2017.

Detective Love originally had other plans post-retirement. "I planned to teach at the Department of Criminal Justice Training," Detective Love told us. But he decided to return to the Nicholasville Police as a patrol officer. Patrol can be a difficult and even thankless job at times. Nearly two decades in criminal investigation and SRT have prepared him to deal with the stress and demands of taking calls. Like many of us, he unwinds by the water. "I like to fish and spend as much time at the beach as I can."

Detective Love is not only community-minded but also family-oriented. "I spend a lot of my free time with my family," he says. "My 15-year-old son plays baseball, so we practice and play in summer tournaments."

Detective Love wears his HAIX® Black Eagle® Desert Side Zip boots during firearms and tactical training. We are also grateful for his help showcasing many of our Black Eagle® line in the photos that you have seen splashed across our webpage and socials. Detective Love has been an unsung hero for HAIX® for years.

And like many Law Enforcement Officers in small towns and large cities across our nation, Detective Love represents all the unsung and even unseen heroes who uphold our laws and, at times, save our lives.

Thank you, Detective Love, today and every day.
